On October 4, 2005, NALA's Board of Directors approved Houston Paralegal Association's application for affiliate membership making HPA the first Houston-area paralegal association to be affiliated with a national paralegal association. The following year, HPA assisted Houston Corporate Paralegal Association in its application for affiliate membership. Both associations enjoy a sister-association relationship in which HPA and HCPA members can attend events sponsored by each association at the membership rate.

Since our affiliation, HPA has kept a close relationship with the NALA home office in Tulsa, OK. HPA pledges to adhere to and uphold NALA's Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility and its Model Standard and Guidelines for the Utilization of Legal Assistants. HPA is proud to the standard bearer of the paralegal profession for all Houston-area paralegals.
